The Marsh Wren is a small buff-colored bird with bold streaks on its back and a thin bill.  The Marsh Wren often holds its short tail upright.  Nomadic and territorial, this bird nests in dense, tall grasses in wet marshes and eats insects.  You are likely to see the Short-billed Marsh Wren around Heron Overlook and the Meadow Path on Third Avenue.
